Barbara began her career at Specialty Resources, Inc. (SRI) in 1988 as a receptionist (employee #8). She quickly advanced from typing orders to expediting and placing purchase orders, learning along the way from the many contacts she developed in the fastener industry—many of whom she remains friends with today.
With more than 35 years at SRI, Barbara has worked in virtually every department, spending the majority of her career in procurement and sales roles. Over the years, she has played a key role in numerous special projects and significantly contributed to SRI’s success. Her accomplishments include assisting in the development of SRI’s initial Quality Manual and achieving ISO 9001 certification in 1996, leading recycling and zero-waste initiatives under ISO 14001 certification that resulted in diverting over 92% of waste from landfills, and helping implement two major software systems, most recently in 2017.
Barbara’s extensive experience and knowledge of the fastener industry, manufacturing, packaging, logistics, and quality practices provide a strong foundation for her leadership roles. She was promoted to General Manager in 2010 and was also named Environmental Systems Manager in 2022.
SRI has been a member of MAFDA since its inaugural year in 2003, and Barbara has served as an active Board Member since 2012. She has held the office of Secretary since 2013 and has chaired the Scholarship Committee for over ten years. Most recently, she stepped into the role of Co-President for 2026, serving alongside Emilee Johnson.
Outside of work and her involvement with MAFDA, Barbara enjoys home improvement projects, restoring and driving her Corvettes, and spending time at the shore. Her future plans include semi-retirement in 2026, along with traveling, hiking, and camping in her vintage trailer.
